Premier Irish law firm McCann FitzGerald today announced its investment in artificial intelligence software from leading software provider Kira Systems. Having successfully trialled the state-of-the-art Kira software, it will be deployed in M&A, corporate finance and capital markets transactions, resulting in increased efficiency, greater accuracy and lower costs for clients.
As the first law firm in Ireland to deploy this pioneering technology, McCann FitzGerald has further enhanced its offering to clients, building on the successful launch of the Data Investigations Group earlier this year. Kira is software that, using the power of artificial intelligence, searches and analyses text within documents, delivering improved levels of speed, efficiency and quality to processes.
Commenting on the investment, Barry Devereux, Managing Partner, McCann FitzGerald said, “The market for legal services is evolving at a considerable pace and McCann FitzGerald is continuously seeking to develop our services to be at the forefront of this progress. Our investment in Kira Systems’ innovative software is the latest milestone in our digital strategy. Our in-house expertise combined with the latest cutting-edge technology enables us to process complex data and deliver exceptional value to clients.”
Earlier this year, McCann FitzGerald announced the establishment of its Data Investigations Group, a pioneering model for the management of high-volume document review and reporting. By combining the latest data review software and techniques with specialist legal project management, the Data Investigations Group can save clients up to 40% in cost over traditional review and research methods.
Karyn Harty, Partner, said: “McCann FitzGerald has world-class experience in using artificial intelligence for data review and investigations. We have worked on some of the leading AI projects in Ireland across various disciplines including corporate, M&A, real estate and litigation. The knowledge, experience and know-how within our team of specialists uniquely places us to get the best out of Kira software and, crucially, avoid the pitfalls. This know-how is unique in the market and is complemented by our Data Investigation Group’s tailored approach to project-management.”
Gráinne Bryan, Director of Data Investigations & Project Services at McCann FitzGerald, said: “It is incumbent on the legal industry to utilise the newest technologies as a means of improving services and delivering increased value to clients. Kira has enabled us to deliver a cost effective, fast, accurate and comprehensive contract review service. Kira is a great piece of software but it is the combination of this software with the expertise of our lawyers that delivers the greatest benefits to clients.”
McCann FitzGerald was recently awarded Ireland Law firm of the Year (The Lawyer European Awards) and has been shortlisted in the FT Innovative Lawyers Awards 2016 for the establishment of the Data Investigations Group.
